Where/When do you meet?
We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 PM in the Alexander Private Dining Room on the east campus at Bethany Village.
Are there dues?
The club currently charges $30 a year, payable annually or quarterly to support the operations of the club. This pays for equipment, repairs, and upgrades to scenery in the various layouts.
What skills are needed?
Everyone has skills we can use. The model railroad club is not just about trains but about how we can serve the community with them. The club is multi-disciplinary, with needs for people who can communicate, organize, plan activities, manage administration and finances, and do art work in addition to those possessing the technical skills associated with the trains.
What rolling stock do you have?
We have an outdoor G gauge set up in Martha’s Garden. This train runs in the good weather on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:30-11:30 am. In separate rooms we have O gauge and HO gauge layouts. Over the Christmas season, we set up an O gauge Christmas Train display behind the West lobby which operates with the push of a button. In the East building near the mailboxes we have an N Gauge layout which also operates at the push of a button. In our skilled nursing faculty lobby we have an HO Gauge layout that operates with the push of a button.
What are the time requirements?
The club holds a monthly business meeting for one hour on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 PM in the Springfields Private Dining Room on the west campus at Bethany Village. Other time requirements are for handling the behind the scenes work of running the club plus work sessions to maintain and upgrade the train layouts in addition to operating them for guests. You can be as busy as you want to be.
Do you have electronic controllers?
Yes, Except the Christmas train, the N gauge Layout and the skilled care HO display.
